Welcome to our classroom! To promote success for all students in our classroom we must work together each and everyday, treating each other the way we wish to be treated. I ask that we try our best to arrive rested and ready to learn! Throughout the school year we will focus on following rules and directions the first time they are given. Through mastering rules and expectations, we will also develop the ability to take responsibility for our own actions. Learning requires mistakes to be made, which we will approach in positive ways. Through learning from our mistakes we must treat others with kindness and compassion, building them up instead of breaking them down. Responsibility cannot be learned without help from each other! Most importantly we will have FUN!
To teach responsibility in our classroom we will be using a behavior chart that focuses on both positive and negative behaviors. Through their behavior, they will determine their placement on the chart. Each day all students will begin on the color green, which is ready to learn. If positive behavior is displayed, students will be asked to move a clip with their name further up on the chart. If negative behavior is displayed, students will be asked to move a clip with their name down on the chart. Each students clip is based only on individual choices and behavior, which is accounted for on their own. Throughout the school year they will develop the ability to asses their behavior and move their clip on their own, taking accountability for their actions and learning!
